Silicon interposer
A silicon interposer provides intermediate die-to-die connections through fine interconnects formed in a silicon-based structure.
Other learning contexts (1)

In context
It can provide high interconnect density, and some configurations use TSVs to connect to the substrate below. It does not necessarily contain computing circuitry.
Example
Using silicon in an interposer does not classify it as a CPU or memory die. Check whether its main function is interconnects or active circuitry.
Key distinction
Material and function are separate; the interposer's core role is die-to-die connection.
