FEOL
Front End of Line
FEOL is the process domain that forms the basic structures of devices, such as transistors, on a wafer.
Other learning contexts (1)

In context
It creates regions where current flows, structures that isolate neighboring devices, and gates that control current. Both the electrical properties of the materials and the geometry of very small structures must meet their requirements.
Example
Using an insulating film to isolate neighboring transistors is part of device formation. In contrast, multilayer metal interconnects that connect completed devices to distant circuits mainly belong to BEOL.
Key distinction
In FEOL, examine which devices are formed and how they control current.
