Identifier and Timestamp
Identifier and timestamp
An identifier distinguishes a target; a timestamp records the time of an event or measurement.
In context
Product, equipment, and task identifiers and times must match to connect records. Occurrence time may differ from system arrival time, and device clocks may be misaligned.
Example
If two machines share the same name, the name alone may not identify which record belongs to which. Check equipment identifiers and time references together.
Key distinction
Before assuming chronological order is causal order, check recording conventions and clock conditions.
