Dimension
A dimension specifies a geometric size, such as length, diameter, or angle, using a number and unit.
In context
Also identify the locations between which the size applies. Even with the same number, overall length and the distance between holes are different dimensions.
Example
If 20 mm on a hypothetical bracket drawing is the distance between hole centers, it does not mean the part's outer width is 20 mm.
Key distinction
Check the number, unit, and measurement locations together.
