Classification
Classification is a prediction task dividing observations into predefined categories such as normal and defect types.
In context
Result categories are determined by the training target. Classifying anomaly presence and classifying multiple failure modes are different tasks.
Example
A model with two categories, normal/anomalous, does not directly provide a component name or RUL even when it detects an anomaly.
Key distinction
Explain the question answered by the model output at the category level.
