Rack power density
Rack power density indicates power use concentrated in one rack and is usually expressed in kW/rack.
Other learning contexts (3)
In context
Even with the same total power in a space, concentration in particular racks increases local heat transfer requirements.
Example
If four hypothetical racks use 5, 5, 5, and 25 kW, the total is 40 kW and the average is 10 kW/rack, but the largest rack uses 25 kW.
Key distinction
Do not substitute average density for each rack's cooling requirements.
