Nameplate
A nameplate displays manufacturer information for device identification and rated operating conditions.
Other learning contexts (1)
In context
Important motor items include output, voltage, current, frequency, speed, connection, and efficiency. Distinguish nameplate ratings from actual measurements at each moment.
Example
A hypothetical 7.5 kW nameplate normally denotes rated shaft output under specified conditions. It does not mean that the motor always outputs or consumes that amount at light load.
Key distinction
A nameplate is a reference for operating conditions, not a real-time measurement.
