Tombstoning
Tombstoning is a defect in which one end of a small chip component lifts and prevents a normal joint with the opposite terminal.

In context
Imbalance in the wetting forces acting at the two ends during reflow and their timing can rotate the component. Simply saying that the component is too light is insufficient.
Example
When observing a chip joined at one end and raised at the other, compare the pads, printing, and thermal conditions at both ends together.
Key distinction
Link the defect's form to differences in joining conditions at the two ends.
