Floor Life
Floor life is the permitted exposure time in a specified environment after moisture barrier packaging is opened and before the component undergoes reflow.
Other learning contexts (2)
In context
Permitted time depends on the level, temperature, humidity, and other conditions. Manage cumulative exposure across multiple operations; closing the packaging again does not automatically reset it.
Example
With a hypothetical permitted time of 72 hours and verified exposures of 18 hours and 10 hours, 44 hours remain, assuming the same permitted environment.
Key distinction
Do not arbitrarily treat an unrecorded storage interval as 0 hours of exposure.
