Check valve
A check valve allows flow in one specified direction and restricts flow in the opposite direction.
Other learning contexts (1)
In context
It operates according to differential pressure and opening conditions. An ordinary check valve does not imply leak-free safety locking. Pressure can remain in a closed section.
Example
Even after air is vented from a circuit, residual pressure can be trapped in the chamber behind a check valve.
Key distinction
Distinguish reverse-flow restriction from a guarantee of no pressure during maintenance.
